THE PHILIP & AMANDA LEE TEAM GALA
When: Wednesday 18th Dec 2024
Time: 6pm start to finish no later than 9pm
Where: Scarborough Sports Village
Who: Open to all Kingfishers swimmers
This team gala is open to all Kingfishers swimmers from entry development through to senior performance and masters. It does not matter if you do not normally train on a Wednesday, you will still be able to enter this gala (there will be no training on this night).
HISTORY
Philip and Amanda were longtime volunteers for Kingfishers, both their daughters swam for the club in the pool and in open water. Philip died in 2014 and Amanda set up the team gala in his memory and then sadly passed away herself in 2020 whilst she was our secretary. The gala was renamed and continues to follow her wish to include all club members and to introduce our youngest members to gala swimming
HOW DOES THIS GALA WORK?
To attend the gala please accept the team invite by Wednesday 4th December.
Our volunteers will then put all swimmers into mixed teams. A senior performance swimmer or masters swimmer will act as the team captain. Team lists will be circulated prior to the event
The actual event will run as follows:
- ROUND 1 – ALL TEAMS SWIM AGAINST EACH OTHER
- Teams then split into 2 divisions depending on times
- ROUND 2 – All teams in each division swim off against each other
- ROUND 3 – the fastest 8 teams in each division swim in a final with trophies and medals for first, second and third places in each division.

FEES
There will not be an entry fee to swim at the event or to use the spectator balcony. However please do dig deep and buy tickets for the raffle that will be drawn on the evening of the event. Tickets will be on sale early December. Money raised from the raffle will be split between Kingfishers and Pancreatic Cancer UK.
