Developing advanced skills, performance and friendships …
Kingfishers Junior & Senior Performance Squads further develops swimmers in their chosen sport with a competitive edge – refining technique, speed, performance and developing fitness.
Swimmers are encouraged to take part in qualifying licenced meets and higher division events to achieve their personal best times and represent their club, should they wish to, at the highest level they can.
Some members may be selected (subject to their agreement and with parental consent) if they have demonstrated commitment to their club and to the sport, for the Kingfisher Mentoring Programme. At 14 to 16 years of age they can opt to assist younger members of the club in developing their swim skills and technique, either in water or on deck, as part of a carefully structured Mentor/Mentee programme for Poolside Helpers.
This programme is extended to club swimmers/helpers and students from the local community looking to add skills for their Duke of Edinburgh Award, or similar schemes, at any level subject to commitment and satisfaction of criteria and acceptance by the club. Please contact the club for more information.
Candidates may also progress, subject to completion of a Training Agreement and the availability of mentors and scheme funding (and to a demand in the club for such skills) to qualification – initial as a Swim England Level 1 Assistant Swim Teacher but with a potential pathway to Level 2 for those able to commit volunteering hours to the club.
Kingfishers sessions are always planned, led and delivered by suitably qualified leaders and assistants in accordance with Swim England’s SwimMark obligations, although the club do reserve the right to change timetables and teachers without notice or cancel sessions for reasons of safety, operational requirements or public health.
