Scarborough Winter Meet Information

Message from event organiser

Hello all,

The Scarborough SC Winter Open 2024 is just around the corner. Before we dive in, please take a moment to carefully review the following key information to ensure everything runs smoothly for everyone involved.

1. Poolside and Changing Room Rules

A quick but important reminder to all swimmers:

  • Bags are NOT permitted on poolside.
  • Phones should NOT be used in the changing rooms unless for medical reasons.

Any swimmer found in violation of these rules will be removed from the session. This is non-negotiable, so please ensure all swimmers understand and follow these rules for a safe and focused environment.

2. 800m & 1500m Events

For swimmers competing in the 800m and 1500m events, training times are permitted for any NT (No Time) entries. It is critical that these are entered accurately to ensure correct placement in heats. Please double-check all entries to avoid any complications.

3. Updating Swimming Times

It’s essential that all swimmers update their times before the event to ensure accurate heat placements. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Go to openmeets.co.uk
  2. Find Scarborough SC Winter Open 2024
  3. Click Entry List and locate your club
  4. Click Entries by Swimmer
  5. Hit the circular arrow to update
  6. Follow the instructions on the next page
  7. Open the rankings data in a separate tab (click “Click here” when ready)
  8. Press Ctrl + A (to select all), then Ctrl + C (to copy)
  9. Return to the entry page and Ctrl + V (paste) into the pink box

It only takes a couple of minutes, but it is vital for ensuring the entries are correct and all swimmers are properly placed in their heats.

4. Coaches’ Poolside Passes

Coaches: You should have already received an email with a Microsoft Form to fill out in order to receive your poolside pass. This form must be completed by all coaches who require a pass.

ImportantAny coach who has not filled out this form will NOT be given a poolside pass—no exceptions. Please complete the form ASAP to avoid any last-minute issues.

5. Balcony Access and Cleaning

Parents, please note that the balcony must be cleared at the end of each session for cleaning purposes. This includes all personal belongings. We will reopen the balcony as soon as it is cleaned, but your cooperation in clearing the area quickly is essential.

Additionally, please remind all parents that access to the changing rooms will NOT be allowed during the meet, and that we are operating a cashless entry system. Please make sure any payments are made electronically prior to the event to ensure smooth entry.

6. Warm-Up Schedule

It’s going to be a fantastic weekend filled with exciting competition. Let’s make sure we’re all on the same page so we can focus on giving our best performances!

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the Scarborough SC Winter Open 2024! ????????

We are looking for more volunteers to join the club committee. The committee meets once a month. If you feel you can help support the continued success of the club please contact Vicky (Hon. Secretary) on secretary@kingfishersswimmingclub.org.uk
What does the committee do?
The organisation and operation of Kingfishers Swimming Club is the responsibility of its committee. As we are a registered charity, the committee are also the trustees.
The committee is charged with organising the efficient running of the club. All committee members are elected to their posts, but offer their time freely as volunteers. Swimming Update – Phase 4 (Monday 7th September) Phase 5 (Wednesday 7th October)

Swimming Update – Phase 4 (Monday 7th September)

                                     Phase 5 (Wednesday 7th October)

Our return to the pool plan involves , at present, 5 phases. The steps we have taken so far have been restricted to what Everyone Active have allowed us to do along with Swim England guidance. We have worked together with Everyone Active to get the club to this point and are thankful for their continued support.

Phase 4 starting week beginning Monday 7th September

This will include different squads (e.g. upper / lower development, club swimmers and masters) in back to back sessions, using single lanes.

This phase will be for swimmers who swim lengths only.

You will return to your normal sessions but some sessions have a time adjustment.

Saturday

Now starting half hour earlier so either 6.30am instead of 7am start or 7.30am start instead of 8am

Sunday

Same timings as before lockdown either 4pm or 5pm start

Monday

Same timings as before lockdown 6.30pm start

Wednesday club night lengths only  Same timings from 7pm onwards.

If you’re in top squad and start secondary school in September your session will be 8pm til 9pm

Phase 5 Wednesday 7th October will be the return of widths 6.30pm til 7pm.

This phase is the hardest to maintain social distancing in the pool so needs to be planned carefully. We also will have only one session available not two like we had pre lockdown. If you accessed Wednesday widths and a lengths session at a different session your sessions will start in October.

However if we feel we need to put in extra steps we will do to ensure the safety of all. The addition of each squad is risk assessed to manage and monitor impact.

If you don’t feel ready to return to the pool just yet that is not a problem. All we ask is you let us know so we are aware of pool space for when you are ready to return.

We are also limited by how many swimmers we can have in the pool to ensure social distancing is maintained. Please only attend the same sessions you had attended previously ( or the equivalent session time) as this is what our numbers have been based on.

All times and sessions are subject to change in this covid world we are now part of.

Apologies this is taking time but we have to follow Swim England guidance and ensure the process is managed carefully and safely.

You will also be asked to complete a Health Survey and Return to Swim declaration for the swimmer before they can return. If this is not complete the swimmer will not be allowed to swim.

You will soon receive an email with log in details to Swim Manager were you will be asked to confirm emergency contact and medical details.

Any further questions please do ask via email to secretary@kingfishersswimmingclub.org.uk

Please don’t post swimmer details on the Facebook page (GDPR)

Thank you for your continued support.

Kingfishers SC – Swimming suspended with immediate effect (18/03/2020)

Kingfishers SC – Swimming suspended with immediate effect (18/03/2020)

We have had a fantastic response from our poolside and dryside helpers and could run training sessions. A massive thank you to all who have selflessly offered to volunteer their time.

However the Club trustees and committee have decided to suspend all swimming until further notice.

The commitee  will meet with E.A. and work out a pathway going forward.
Please bear with us while we work out the financial impact this will have on you as parents and swimmers, and as us as a club.

Please all stay safe and ‘wash those hands’
Go Kingo’s

First Kingfishers Club Night After Summer Break – Wednesday 4th September 2019

First Kingfishers Club Night After Summer Break – Wednesday 4th September

Welcome back everyone after our summer break. Please be reminded of the following changes:

  • Polite reminder that any members that have moved to secondary school in September will be automatically moved from 7-8pm to 8-9pm on Wednesday night if they aren’t already swimming at this time. We have to make these moves to allow new younger swimmers early water time when joining our club.
  • New monthly charges will come into effect from September 1st with a small increase of monthly fees. This has had to be increased due to the lack of fund raising activities. Hopefully we can encourage some volunteers to fill some of our club volunteer vacancies in the months ahead. If you can help please let the front desk know any little support or time you can give will be much appreciated.
    • 1 Session per week £13
    • 2 Session per week £26
    • 3/4 Hours per week £39
    • 5 Hours plus per week £64

Many Thanks Your Committee
