Spring Yorkshire Swimming Championships 2020 – 1/2 and 8/9 February at JCCS Leeds and 22 Feb ( 50m Sprints) at Ponds Forge, Sheffield.

Closing date for entries is STRICTLY 10th January 2020!
( no late entries permitted, only qualifying swims/ swimmers can be entered) £5 per race.

We are preparing for our club championships & need your support.

We require help covering the various roles around the pool to make this club championships enjoyable for all our swimmers. If you can help by volunteering your time in any way it will be much appreciated.

BLDSA Champion of Champions – Scaling Dam

People often wonder why I love working with kingfishers open water squad, it’s because I never cease to be amazed and proud of our open water swimmers. On the 22nd June Four Kingfisher ladies Maddy Adams, Ellie Knight, Jane Sedman and Alex Sedman travelled to Scaling Dam just north of Whitby for the first ever champion of champion event at that venue. The race is particularly gruelling some may even say cruel in 15degrees! You start the day with a 5 mile race, get out, get dry, feed and go back in for a 3 mile race followed by 1 mile sprint. The sun shone all day and the water was beautiful and flat for the 5 mile, 1 lap into the 3 mile the wind got up and conditions remained challenging for the rest of the day.  Maddie again the only junior to complete this mammoth swim was our first swimmer home 4th overall in the ladies section followed by Ellie and Jane with Alex completing just the 5 mile on this occasion. This weekend has been one of the most successful ones ever for Kingfishers Swimming Club. The amount of pb swims, medals, fabulous races and speeding tickets has been extraordinary. All swimmers swam there hearts out and listened to the advice of coaches which resulted in some jaw dropping swims! Well done everyone ! Go Go Kingos !!

Kingfisher Swimmers Qualify for the North East Championships Kingfishers Swimming Club

Congratulations to all of our Kingfisher swimmers & coaches who have achieved qualification times for the North East Region Swimming Championships in the Open & Age Group events to be held in Ponds Forge Sheffield & the John Charles Aquatic Centre Leeds respectively.

These championships are the pinnacle of our swimming calendar & are achieved only through the dedication & hard work of the swimmers / coaching team. Well done everyone.

Our qualifying Open Championship swimmers are: Aaron Gilson, Eliza Hammond & Izzy Vasey
