From our newly appointed Head Coach, Zoe Naylor

As the Club’s new Head Coach, I’m really looking forward to building on the many successes we have already achieved and, supported by our already strong coaching team, our members and our Committee, delivering a healthy and vibrant future for our Club’s swim offer which will always have our swimmers at its heart.
I’ve been a coach at Kingfisher’s since 2020 and prior to that coached at Scarborough Swimming Club for several years where I made the first move from swimmer and swim parent to poolside. Swimming has always been a big part of my life. As a teenager, I swam competitively to National level. I’m a Level 2 Swim Coach and Open Water Coach and bring additional leadership skills from my 30-year management career in the creative industries. I’m a Mum to Jack and Bess (both swimmers and still involved in swimming). My other big passion, aside from swimming and being a Mum, is film – I run a film business and support young people from all over the UK to make short films for the British Film Institute.
It always feels like a privilege to support swimmers to achieve their goals, to be a part of their journey and to try to make all that hard work fun whilst enabling every swimmer to swim and train well, whatever their level. I respect every swimmer who trains and turns up for their sessions week after week to push themselves to achieve – swimming is a hard sport, one of the hardest – and am grateful for our volunteers who give their time to their club and look forward to working more closely with our swimmers’ parents who are always supportive. Kingfisher’s Swimming Club wouldn’t exist without you all and we will never take that for granted. Seeing all that hard work and joint effort come together at events and swim meets or even after a good session is always super rewarding.
