GDPR and Your Data

Data Protection Notice: Your Consent to Use of Your Data and Revised Club Privacy Policy

You may be aware that on 25 May 2018, certain legal changes came into effect concerning data protection and privacy.

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (or GDPR as it is more commonly known), the club is required, as are all those holding your personal data, to provide you with certain information in relation to the lawful grounds for the ongoing processing of your personal data.

In order to fulfill this obligation, the club has put together a new Privacy Policy that clearly sets out how the club collects and processes your personal data, for what purposes it is used, the legal grounds of processing such data, how your data is kept secure and your rights in relation to such data.  This has previously been added to the website.

It should be remembered that the club hold and process data for the purpose of managing your membership of the club and Swim England and whilst the club is moving towards an electronic database to make this process more effective, the club is not a commercial sales operation involved in email marketing to members and will not be sending marketing emails or providing member  information to third parties for them to market to members.

As such we hope you will consent to allow the club to hold data and communicate with you electronically in order to manage the club and keep you informed of club related matters, news and official communications regarding your membership and (for example) gala entries.

Please read the Privacy Policy which is also available to view on the ‘Information’ tab on the main navigation menu above.

You can also find the club’s statement on Cookies, relating to the club website,  advising what type of cookie may be used by the website from time to time on the site and advice on accepting cookies in your browser settings or blocking them.  All visitors to the site will be asked to confirm acceptance of cookies when first visiting the site and periodically thereafter.

All members will shortly be provided with a hard copy of the new Privacy Policy Statement which replaces the old statement in the Membership and Renewal Pack.  You will be asked to sign to confirm acceptance of the updated document and the original signature will be placed in club files.
