Welfare & Safe Guarding

Meet our club welfare officer Adrian Vipond

Adrian can often be found around the poolside & on the balcony.  He is around so that parents have chance to speak to him face to face if they have any concerns or issues.
If you have any concerns to discuss with Adrian but need make contact urgently you can contact him via welfare@kingfishersswimmingclub.org.uk
Kingfishers is a SwimMark Accredited Club with Swim England and Sports England.  The club follows the guidance in Wavepower for child safeguarding, the Swim England (ASA) Code of Ethics and Codes of Conduct.

Meet Hayley our Deputy Welfare Officer

My name is Hayley and I am the deputy Welfare Officer for Kingfishers Swimming Club. I am also a parent of three boys who swim at the club. When I’m not at the pool I can usually be found on the side of a football pitch watching the boys play for three different grassroots football teams!
I currently work for our family business in a HR capacity. I have previously worked locally as a social worker. I am often at the pool and local galas and can be approached at any time should you have any concerns or comments to make. Kingfishers will continually strive for the club to be a safe and rewarding space for all the children and young people who swim for us.

Scarborough Spring Splash Report

Scarborough Spring Splash Report (By Head Coach Zoe)

As well as earning enough points from all our swimmers races to put us on the top spot on the Top Club table at the Spring Splash yesterday and Saturday, some individual swimmers from Kingfishers deserve a big shout out for their positions in the Top Swimmers ranking tables from the meet. Very well done to Sami, Ella and Toby who gained 1sts in their age groups. George and Charlie Bob gained 3rd and 4th in their age group. Leah was 2nd, Zak was third in Toby’s age group and both Griff and Olly got top 10 placings as well. Sophie got a top ten placing. Bess was 3rd and Sam was 6th in their age group. Lexie and Joe got 3rds in the oldest age group and Alicia and Laila also gained top ten placings. Some brilliant swimming – well done to everyone who took part, we really enjoyed supporting you and watching you all swim! Full club results here

Open Water Is Back!!!

Sessions start on Monday the 29thof April at 6PM in our usual spot at Wykeham lakes.

The water will be around 8-10 degrees and our first few sessions will be dips rather than swims for most, we do encourage our younger swimmers to wait a month before coming up so the water does warm up a little and always with an adult to take care of them as they come out.

Open water training is open to all club swimmers over the age of 10 who can swim at least mile.

Please talk to Paula Ambury frontdesk@kingfishersswimmingclub.org.uk if you are in any doubt.

If new to open water please speak to Paula before attending a session.

You will need lots of warm layers for after your swim, flip flops/sliders or crocs for walking to and from the water and a dry robe or dressing gown to wear before getting in.

We also need volunteer kayakers; the club will provide the life jackets and kayaks along with biscuits and hot chocolate after the session has finished.

If you think you could help, please come down to the lake on the 29th April, park in the main car park and walk down to towards the water on your right. You will see the containers to your left and lots of blue T-shirts. The open water section work towards local sea swims, national competitions and marathon team relay swims to name just a few. Some of our swimmers just swim to clear their minds and rest themselves.

Whatever your reason please come down and see what we are all about, we look forward to seeing you.

Scarborough Spring Splash April 2024 – Important changes to meet.

SCARBOROUGH SWIMMING CLUB

IMPORTANT ANNNOUNCENT

SPRING OPEN MEET

SUNDAY 7TH APRIL 2024

To All Our Supporting Clubs

We are sure you are all aware that our Spring Open Meet has reached its capacity very quickly when entries were opened last week. It has been a disappointment that we have had so many entries rejected.

However, in conjunction with our pool partners, Everyone Active, we have managed to secure the pool for the Saturday afternoon 6th April 2024.

This does mean that we have had to rearrange the scheduling of the events over the 2 days. The new scheduling will be attached to this note and we hope that this will allow more swimmers to compete in our gala. There will now be 3 sessions of 12 events. Session 1 will be on Saturday afternoon and will finish no later than 6.30pm. Session 2 will be on Sunday morning and Session 3 on Sunday afternoon.

The entries that have been submitted and accepted do not have to be re-entered. Those places are confirmed. Please withdraw any swimmer who cannot compete if the new scheduling is not suitable. Any monies sent will be refunded to the relevant club.

It is our intention to release the gala for entries on Wednesday 15th November at 10am and entries will be accepted on a first come basis until the capacity is reached.

We hope this is acceptable to all our supporters and that the swimmers can all enjoy the unique gala that Scarborough Swimming Club offers?

If you have any further query’s please contact the meet promoters through the normal channels.

Thank you for your understanding.
