Skins Event

The Skins Event is a multi-round 2 x 50m mixed stroke Team Medley elimination competition.

The 6 fastest 13yrs & Over Male & Female swimmers in each of A & B Grade from the 200IM qualify for the relevant Senior Skins.

The 6 fastest 12yrs & Under Male & Female swimmers in each of A & B grade from the 100IM qualify for the Junior Skins.

Swimmers who swim faster than the oldest appropriate age group in their grade, will not be eligible for the skins.

All skins qualifiers must confirm they are swimming by the specified time and should listen for announcements.

Skins qualifiers must attend their briefing at the stated time.

Any swimmer not present at the start of the briefing will be replaced from the reserve list.

A Skins relay team consists of one male and one female swimmer.

The skins relay team members and lanes are drawn at random at the start of the briefing.

Teams members must swim boy, then girl in each round.

The stroke combination for each round of the skins competition is drawn at random.

After each round is swim the slowest team is eliminated unless another team is disqualified, in which case the disqualified team is eliminated.

There will be a fixed 3-minute recovery time between rounds.

During the skins event only competing swimmers and necessary officials are allowed at the deep end of the pool.

Important Notice To All Members

First of all thank you for the offers of support that we have received this week, it is very much appreciated.  We have met this week with another coach who will be joining us to coach alongside our existing team. Cameron visited the club on Wednesday so you may have seen him poolside getting to know our other volunteers and familiarizing himself with the club set up. He is keen to start but due to the usual paperwork it may be a couple of weeks before you see Cameron on poolside coaching.

Committee member and swimmer parent Kay, is going to do her Level 1 coaching qualification next month and another parent has kindly volunteered to become a poolside helper and progress to assistant teacher.

The coaches and committee met this evening as due to our continued success at events along with Kev Hope and Jon Cheshire both leaving the club this week, covering poolside has been problematic for the next two weekends.

Saturday 22nd October  Due to our coaches being at the Yorkshire’s this weekend we are unable to provide a safe level of cover for training so unfortunately training for all apart from masters will be cancelled on Saturday morning.

Sunday 30th October Due to the club having over 30 swimmers at the Halloween Meet we are unfortunately having to cancel the training session 5-7pm. Training 4-5pm on 30th October will be on as normal.

We thank Jon and Kev for their commitment to the club and wish them well. Looking forward we can’t see any other dates that would be problematic especially when our volunteer base is increasing and as a committee and coaching team, we are eager to continue the club’s success.

and BRIDLINGTON
SAT 10/9/22 – 4:30pm warm up for 5:00pm start (TBC)
Ryedale Everyone Active
Mill Lane, Pickering, North Yorkshire YO18 8DJ

Reminder: The Ridings gala is going ahead as planned today. There may be a minutes silence out of respect to the Queen’s passing… “God save the King”

Good luck to all our Kingfisher swimmers taking part. Swim well, swim fast & most of all enjoy 🙂

The team is the fastest combination of swimmers, per age group, chosen in consultation with members of the coaching team and final approval from the Head Coach.
All swimmers attending the gala will swim in at least one event. We have tried to include as many swimmers as possible based on PBs but please let us know if a swimmer would rather not attend if they are swimming in only one event. Please arrive wearing swimming costumes if possible to limit use of the changing rooms.
Thank you so much to everyone from our club who has already, and continues to volunteer to support these galas – they can’t run without you. Please let us know if you are available to help with any roles (officiating, timekeeping, coaching) for the 10th.
If swimmers need to leave the poolside for any reason please tellyour coaches where you are going. Wear your club kit and cap if possible. Bring something to eat (snacks – fruit, nuts, etc.), an extra towel, a bottle of water/plenty to drink, spare goggles and a hat if you have them and if you take medication please make sure you
have this with you. Loads more info here about what you might need especially if this is your first gala.
