Kingfishers Top Squad under Head Coach Jon Cheshire further develops swimmers in their chosen sport in competition – refining technique, performance and developing fitness.
Swimmers are encouraged to take part in qualifying licenced meets and higher division events to achieve their personal best times and represent their club, should they wish to, at the highest level they can.
Some Top Squad members may be selected (subject to their agreement and with parental consent) if they have demonstrated commitment to their club and to the sport, for the Kingfisher Mentoring Programme when at around 14 to 16 years of age they can opt to assist younger members of the club in developing their swim skills and technique, either in water or on deck, as part of a carefully structured Mentor/Mentee programme.
Candidates may also progress, subject to completion of a Training Agreement and the availablity of mentors and scheme funding (and to a demand in the club for such skills) to qualification – initialy as a Swim England Level 1 Assistant Swim Teacher.
Kingfishers sessions are always planned, led and delivered by suitably qualified leaders and assistants in accordance with our Swim21 obligations, although the club do reserve the right to change timetables and teachers without notice or to cancel sessions for reasons of safety or for operational reasons.
